Get ready to groove! The captivating Broadway and film choreography retrospective, Gotta Dance!, is making a grand return for an Off-Broadway encore run. Starting March 20th at Stage 42, this production promises to transport you back in time with its tribute to the choreographers who have shaped Broadway and Hollywood. But here's where it gets controversial... Are they doing justice to the original works? Only time will tell!
The show, co-directed by Nikki Feirt Atkins and Randy Skinner, will feature an array of talented dancers, including Keely Beirne, Brandon Burks, and many more. The production will showcase numbers from iconic musicals like West Side Story, White Christmas, and Singin' in the Rain, with music arrangements by Eugene Gwozdz and a live orchestra.
But the question remains: How will they interpret these classic works? Will they stay true to the original vision or put their own spin on it? This is the part most people miss... The answer lies in the upcoming run, so stay tuned!
The production team includes scenic design by Noah Glaister, costume design by Marlene Olson Hamm, lighting design by Ken Billington and Anthony Pearson, projection design by Brian C. Staton, and sound design by Peter Brucker. Andrew Winans serves as associate director-choreographer, while Cathy Lubash Fogelman takes on the role of associate choreographer. Drew Neal will be the production stage manager.
