Lakers fans are relieved to hear that Luka Dončić's recent hamstring injury isn't as severe as initially feared. The star player, who is the NBA's leading scorer with an average of 33.4 points per game, is expected to recover in time for the season. However, his first All-Star appearance as a Laker is now in jeopardy. Luka was named a starter for the game, but with it taking place on February 15th, he might choose to rest his body rather than play against Team USA. If Luka does miss some regular-season games, it will hurt his chances of remaining eligible for the NBA's end-of-season awards. The Lakers are currently fifth in the West, but just three and a half games back of the No. 2 seed. Luka's absence would make winning that much harder for the team. While Luka avoided a worst-case scenario, this injury does put his first All-Star appearance as a Laker at risk. Luka has dealt with hamstring injuries before, and fans are hopeful that this update means he will miss little to no games due to this injury. The Lakers haven't officially given a statement on their superstar guard, but Dave McMenamin of ESPN is reporting that there's optimism that the injury is not a major one. Luka's importance to the Lakers cannot be understated. You can follow Edwin on Twitter at @ECreates88 or on Bluesky at @ecreates88.bsky.social.
