He aggravated his shoulder in the third quarter of the AFC Championship Game, limiting his practice on Thursday and causing him to sit out the following day. However, Maye practiced in full once the team arrived in Santa Clara and is confident he won't face any limitations on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Maye expressed his positive outlook, stating he felt he had turned a corner with his shoulder during the team's flight to the Bay Area. He reiterated his enthusiasm for the upcoming game during his final media availability before Super Bowl LX.
'I'm genuinely excited,' Maye said on Thursday. 'The opportunity to play in this game is a dream come true and the culmination of a year's hard work.'
Turning to the defense, the focus is on starting linebacker Robert Spillane, who exited the AFC title game with an ankle injury in the first quarter and didn't return. He sat out the first three practices leading up to the Super Bowl but returned in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday.
Despite being officially questionable, Spillane has assured reporters that he plans to play on Sunday. The question remains: how effective will he be? The Seahawks' West Coast offense relies heavily on run plays, and having their best run-stuffing linebacker healthy is crucial.
